January 8, 2023 - The main park road to the Sauceda Ranger Station is open to all vehicles. The road east of Sauceda is accessible by 2WD high clearance vehicles. The Road to Nowhere and Lower Shutup trailhead are closed until further notice. All roads are rugged and unpaved. Be prepared.

During the rainy season (May - September) we recommend contacting the Barton Warnock Visitor Center for updates on road conditions before visiting the park.

All roads in the interior of the park are unpaved. The Main Park Road is in good condition and is navigable by most vehicles. Conditions change with rain so always call ahead for the latest road conditions.

Extreme heat warning
In warm weather months, be prepared for extreme summer heat. Temperatures typically exceed 100 degrees by late morning and can reach as high as 130 degrees in the sun and remain at dangerous levels even after sunset. Always carry extra water.

To reserve a campsite along the river corridor of Big Bend Ranch State Park, visit Barton Warnock Visitor Center's reservation page.
